I been working on this for a while. I finished it today. I was trying new things with nebulas. I think they came out decent. I am pleased with the result of this piece. I was having alot of trouble figureing out wut to do in this piece. But i think the set up came out pretty nicely.

love the work you've done to the original render...the transition from terrain up to space could be a little better but still its a great piece

A combination of a great and original terragen with a great and pretty damned original CG spaceart makes for something Loki will most certainly approve of and :+fav:!

I like everything here except the lightning like rays that connect the planets. They seem unrealistic. Other than that it's very nice.

Top notch. Very high caliber terragen work at the bottom. One of my biggest misgivings about terragen is that all of that program's renders have a tendency to look the same. You know, the patchy jagged clouds in the sky. The way the terrain jets at akward angles while it's textural overlay remains unchanged. The way the terrain would carry a bump map, and a bump map only, having no rocks, trees, or the sort. I would see the landscape, but I wouldn't believe it. It would look empty, a bit insipid, monotonous, just another render that can be had for a dime a dozen.

It would look lifeless.

This is not the case here. This terragen render stands above the rest in quality and execution. I can tell that you put a lot of conscious effort into the creation of the landscape. I can see every little feature, strategically placed, to look like a natural flowing environment that only the hands of weather can make. It's consistent. It looks rugged where it should be rugged, and gets smoother where it needs be smoother. Having plateus and bluffs as the carrying point of the terrain helps maintain the consistency. The foam at the edges of the terrain also looks good, and works particularly well in the central lagoon. Environmentally, it looks very strong. I can feel the heat from the sun as I look at this, and can really grasp the haze. Though I know it's a part of the program used, like I said it stands apart from the rest of the terragen renders I frequently see. I've seen the effect done dozens upon dozens of times, and they all looked artificial. This haze effect has life. It wraps naturally around the landscape, and though the effect is spontaneous in itself, you take the initiative as a proverbial "god" in the scene to craft the landscape so that the terrain and the effects work harmoniously with one another.

The top half is a bit different. The transition seems to be in the form of a straight horizontal line, which eliminates some believability for the piece. If the clouds from the terragen render were somehow carried beyond their boundaries, expanded so that it seems to "overlap" the planets in the sky, it would help to integrate the two parts together. Integration is the key, here.

The blazing effect looks good on the bottom, but suffers in the other spot where the several rocks are. These rocks are problematic because they seem to have no overlap with the flame. They all look like they are in front of it, and don't fade into the inferno. Their high contrast against the blaze is also detracting to the flow of the piece. They stand out, and currently don't work as they are. Yet critical thinking can assist in parts like this. These rocks won't be the only debris in this path. There will also be a lot of dust between them, smaller rocks, different colors, intensities, and opacities. I think there would also be a stronger glow effect on the surface of the planet where these "bands" originate from. As it stands, they're all the same size, and look too similar. These are just mere observations, though. I don't "demand" this be done or I'll write you angry letters, it's just something I thought I'd bring up considering you'd think about it for your next piece.

The last bit I wanted to examine were the planets themselves. Red, desert planets would have very dim atmosphere, so I'm glad you got that in. The texturing on these planets are also platinum work. Great detailed work, almost looks like the surface of Mars. Excellent attention to the subtle features, particularly in the craters.

Overall, a marvelous exposition. Very impressive work, and I hope that it gets a fair share of buyers as a print.

Excellent piece mate, The space scene is pretty awesome, I don't like the cut off on the smaller planet by the nebula nd I don't like the cut off the clouds do on the lower planet. But i do love the terrain, is it worldmachine?. I would've used less foam though. Overall a very excellent piece definatly worth a Print :D

Great job man. Just a few things. It doesn't really look right how the astroids are directly overtop of the explosion/nebula/thingy. Terragen looks great, but the foam in the water looks a bit too strong. The birds are teh sexy, though :D Also the starfield looks kinda bland.

Great job overall though. Keep it up.
